Dill weed is a plant that is very similar to fennel, to the point that they even attract the same butterflies and caterpillars. Dill seeds are used in the kitchen as spice, and the greens for pickling.

Dill has a negative effect on many other vegetables, making it a poor choice for companion planting.

Directions

You can try to grow dill seeds from your spice cabinet if they are fresh.
Germination time is about 3 weeks.
Dill tends to bolt if transplanted. Sow in place in a sunny spot for best results.
Dill weed seems to have an inhibitive effect on many vegetables that are planted nearby.
I started dill in pots and planted them in a location where I wasn't growing anything else.
To harvest the seeds, cut off the entire screen and stick it upside down in a paper bag. Wait to harvest until some seeds in the screen turn brown.
