breaded shrimp & clam strips


Yep, I cheated. I bought these in our local Peppers store to see if I would like these. Unfortunately, it's always the same problem with these store-bought batter things: all batter, very little inside. It was OK for once, but I'd rather eat shrimp instead of deep-fried batter.

The breaded clam strips came from the same source. They tasted a lost stronger, fishier than the shrimp.


This is what you need for 2-3 servings:

  • 1 9-oz. pck. breaded shrimp
  • 1 9-oz. pck. coconut-breaded shrimp
  • sauce of your choice
    I use mayo, tartare sauce or none at all

from scratch:

  • 1 lb. jumbo shrimp,
    mostly peeled,
    only the last piece of the tail on


  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • optional: shredded coconut
  • S&P
  • hot pepper spices?
