Seafood gumbo

This recipe was prepared with Zatarain's gumbo base and with the rice cooked and served separately.
I added so much vegetables that I could just as well have made it from scratch. It makes it so much richer than just the packaged mix.

INGREDIENTS

This is what you need for 3-4 servings:

  • 1-2 lbs. seafood mix, remove fake crab OR
    • 2 Dungeness crabs,
      1 lb. large tail-on shrimp,
      1 lb. crawfish tails, clams. mussels ....
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • gumbo mix:
    • 1-2 cups onion & bell pepper mix, sliced
    • 2-4 celery stalks
    • S&P, Cajun spices
    • 2 tbsp. flour / maizena
    • 2 tbsp. oil / butter
    • optional:
      • 1 cup okra, sliced
  • OR:
    • pre-packaged gumbo base
