ham stew with potatoes, carrots


Perhaps a better title for this picture would be 'vegetable stew with ham' since the ham is mostly in a supportive role here. But if you use chunk ham instead of sliced, this can become a true ham stew.

I don't add ham to stews or soups very often. When I do I add it late to limit the cooking time. It tends to lose all flavor when cooked too long.


This is what you need for 3 servings:

  • up to 1 lb. chunk ham
  • 3 potatoes
  • 3 large carrots
  • 2 green bell peppers
