meatballs in tomatillo sauce


The preparation method of  recipe is almost identical as in the Meatballs Stroganoff recipe. The only difference is that the meatballs are boiled in pureed tomatillo instead of mushroom broth. The sauce may look similar, but the taste is very different.

This is what you need for 4 servings:

  • Italian sausage meat, ½ lb. mild, ½ lb. hot
    or use your favorite meatball mix
  • ½ onion, chopped fine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • S&P, spices
  •  2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 qt. tomatillo puree
    or 2 lb. fresh tomatillos
  • 1 tbsp. oil dough
  •  1 cup sour cream
