Blackening is a culinary term for dipping meat or fish through melted butter, sprinkling it with 'blacken' spice mix and searing it over high heat. The spice mix appears to be mostly salt and red chile powder.

This is farmed alligator tail meat, delivered frozen overnight. It is a very mild white meat.
Or in the classic words: it tastes like chicken. It is quite a bit chewier though.

Curiosity satisfied, I doubt I'll buy this again. I can get 2 whole chickens for the price of this one pound.

INGREDIENTS

This is what you need for 2 servings:

  • 1 lb. alligator meat
  • 2 veggie skewers
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • blackened spice
