chicken gizzard soup with fideo

This is a traditional tomato soup with vermicelli, with an extra ingredient that adds a lot of flavor.

Not a quick recipe. The gizzards need to be cooked for hours.
And tomatoes are optional, but highly recommended.

This is what you need for 2 servings:

Boil chicken gizzards for 3-4 hrs. in water until very soft. (see chicken gizzard soup)
Stew the tomatoes in 2 cups broth to prepare a simple tomato soup.
- Optional: blend the tomatoes.
- Alternatively, use instant tomato soup with vermicelli or other pasta.
Add the gizzards and the remainder of broth to the soup.
Add water, seasoning as needed.
Bring to a boil.
Add vermicelli.
Boil for the time recommended on the package.
Serve immediately.
