Brazilian composer. Born in Medina in the State
of Minas Gerais, Jailton de Oliveira received his Bachelors degree from
UNICAMP (Universidade Estadual de Campinas) and his Masters of Music from
UFG (Universidade Federal de Goiás). He has composed over 200 works,
including: choral music, songs, pieces for piano solo, pieces for viola
solo, opera, chamber and orchestral music, electroacoustic music. In 1995 he
won a prize at the "III Concurso de Composição da Escola de Música da UFMG”,
with his work Soneto n. 1, for orchestra. Later, his Fantasia for Viola Solo
received a prize by the “Britten-on-the-Bay Composition Competition 1999”,
in New York, USA.
