Andrea Basevi è nato a Genova nel 1957. Dopo i primi studi con Mario Moretti, si diploma al Conservatorio di Torino in Musica Corale e Direzione di Coro con Don Virgilio Bellone e in Composizione con Gilberto Bosco. Si perfeziona con Brian Ferneyhough alla Staatlische Hochschüle fur Musik di Freiburg e con Luciano Berio a Firenze. Importante nella sua formazione un corso di Etnomusicologia con Simha Arom presso l’Accademia Chigiana.
Segnalatosi al Concorso Bucchi 1989 con una fiaba musicale trasmessa dalla RAI, ha vinto per due volte il concorso “Gioco e Musica” indetto dalla rivista Amadeus e il concorso di Vigliano.
Il suo interesse investe varie aree della musica: ha scritto musiche per il Teatro Stabile di Genova e a Torino collaborando con Sergio Liberovici, colonne sonore per film e documentari di allievi del C.S.C. di Roma, ricevendo inoltre una menzione d’onore da Ennio Morricone per un concorso indetto dalla Chigiana.
Importante nella sua produzione il rapporto voce/musica con lavori radiofonici su testi di Roberto Piumini con il quale ha intrapreso un cammino che lo vede autore ed esecutore delle musiche originali in spettacoli teatrali in cui gli autori si fanno attori, pubblicando il libro-cassetta “Il piegatore di lenzuoli”.
Si occupa di didattica per l’infanzia dirigendo Cori di Scuole Elementari, della Biblioteca De Amicis di Genova e Le Piccole Voci del Vivaldi. Ha pubblicato con Roberto Piumini due libri per bambini con musicassetta sugli strumenti musicali e sulle note editi da Fabbri e due lavori di teatro musicale per bambini Il ragazzo col violino e I capelli del diavolo da Rugginenti.
Ha coinvolto compositori in progetti legati alle altre arti: “Montale: la voce del poeta”, “Musiche per Van Dick” con la produzione di un Compact Disc distribuito dall’Electa durante l’esposizione a Palazzo Ducale, “Per Giorgio Caproni”, collaborando con il Centro Primo Levi per il “Concerto per il Giorno della Memoria”.
Ha rappresentato le opere da camera Zazie su testo di Queneau , Pinocchio da Collodi, Peter Pan da Barrie, Alice da Carrol tutte prodotte dalla Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice, e su libretto di Roberto Piumini Il circo d’Empoli opera per ragazzi prodotta dal Centro Studi Busoni, Il malafiato prodotta dall’Istituto Vittadini di Pavia, I musicanti di Brema dai fratelli Grimm per la Filarmonica Romana ripresa alla Fenice di Venezia e al Teatro Liceu di Barcelona
È Direttore Artistico dell’Associazione Sant’Ambrogio Musica e membro dell’ Aikem, Associazione Italiana Kodály per l’educazione musicale ed è docente di Armonia presso il Conservatorio di Alessandria.


Andrea Basevi was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1957. He began studying with Mario Moretti, then graduated from the Conservatory of Turin in Choral Music and Chorus Conducting with Don Virgilio Bellone, and in Composition with Gilberto Bosco. He continued his studies with Brian Ferneyhough at the Staatlische Hochschüle fur Musik in Freiburg, and with Luciano Berio in Florence. An important stage in his education was a Course in Ethnomusicology with Simha Arom at the Accademia Chigiana, Siena. After being noticed at the 1989 Bucchi Price with a musical fairytale broadcast by RAI, he has twice won the Competition “Play and Music” of the magazine Amadeus. He is interested in many areas of music: he has composed music for drama for the Repertory Theatres of Genoa and Turin, written film music for the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Rome, and has received special mention from Ennio Morricone in a Chigiana Academy competition. He has worked extensively on the music / voice relation, producing radio works, songs for children and opera on texts by author Roberto Piumini. He has been active in primary education, as director in Genoa of the chorus in various Primary Schools and the De Amicis Library. With Piumini he has produced two books for children on musical instruments and notation, published by Fabbri editor in Milan. From 2006 he is President of AIKEM, association for music education with the Kodály methodology. Basevi has involved other composers in projects related to various mediums: “Montale: the poet’s voice”, “Music for Van Dick”, “For Giorgio Caproni”, “Concert for the day of the Memory”. He has composed the short operas for children : Zazie adapted from Queneau, Pinocchio from Collodi, Peter Pan from Barrie, Alice from Lewis Carroll, and from Piumini’s books The Empoli’s circus, The Malafiato, The Brema’s musicians. He is Artistic Director of Music Association Sant’Ambrogio, which promotes contemporary music. He teaches Harmony at the Conservatory of Alessandria.

Son intérêt comprend vastes aires de la musique: il a composé musique de scène pour les Théâtres de Gênes et Turin, musique pour des films et documentaires, et il a reçu une mention d’honneur par Ennio Morricone pour un concours à la Chigiana. Très importante dans sa production le rapport voix/musique avec des travails pour la radio sur des textes de Roberto Piumini avec qui il a embrassé un chemin qui le voix auteur et exécutant des musiques originales en spectacles théâtrales. Il s’ occupe de la didactique pour l’enfance en dirigent des Chœurs d’ école primaire, de la bibliothèque pour enfants De Amicis de Gênes, et les Petites Voix du Conservatoire de Alessandria. Il a publié avec Piumini des livres musicales pour les enfants. Du 2006 il est Président de l’ AIKEM Association pour la didactique Kodály en Italie. Il a représenté les opéras de chambre pour la jeunesse : Zazie sur texte de Raymond Queneau, Pinocchio d’après Collodi, Peter Pan d’ après W. Berrie, Alice d’ après L. Carrol commandées par le Théâtre Carlo Felice de Gênes et des opéras sur texte de Piumini : Il circo d’Empoli par le Centre Busoni, Il Malafiato par l’Institut Musical Vittadini de Pavia, I musicanti di Brema par l’Accademia Filarmonica Romana, rèprise par La Fenice de Venise. Il est Directeur Artistique de l’Association Sant’Ambrogio Musica qui encourage la musique contemporaine. Il est professeur d’harmonie et analyse au Conservatoire de Alessandria.
