blanching okra for the freezer

Before freezing vegetables, it is recommended to blanch them, i.e. dip them in boiling water for about 1 minute. This destroys superficial bacteria and increases shelf life. Take note that these vegetables are still raw. Blanching does not cook the vegetables.

INGREDIENTS

This is what you need:

  • okra
  • boiling water
  • vacuum-sealing system / Ziploc bags
