The difference between corned and regular brisket is the same as between ham and pork roast. Corned beef brisket has been cured in a brine that changes the meat and turns it bright red. It stays that way even when cooked. The flavor is quite different too.
I've bought corned brisket several times, because the price of uncured brisket has gone through the roof from one of the cheapest to one of the more expensive cuts over the past 5 years. Marielos seems to like it. I can't say I do.

The butter and sugar inside the apples will mix and diffuse into the apple during the long cooking time. Delicious.
