Fresh radishes can be extremely hot. Sadly enough, boiling pretty much destroys that typical sharpness and makes them rather bland, a lesser turnip imitation. The pepper should help with that. :-) If you like turnip soup, you will probably like this one too.

INGREDIENTS

This is what you need for 4 servings:

  • 1 lb. radishes
  • 1 medium onion
  •  1 serrano pepper
    or hot pepper powder
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 cups whole milk (or skim and 2 tbsp. butter)
  • olive oil
  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • S&wP
  • Optional: heavy cream
