Emil Wahle
Mr. EMIL WAHLE Of Buffalo died suddenly on Wednesday July 31 at 10 AM at his
home No 65 Oak st Buffalo His large circle of friends in the trade will be
grieved the more at this sad news because it is so unexpected Mr Wahle was
one of the most popular piano men of the East and the active element in the
firm of Wahle 8 Son He was obliged to labor there under peculiar
disadvantages and his success in making and holding friends for himself and
his concern was the more remarkable and commendable when the peculiar
conditions and surroundings in which he worked are taken into consideration
The following short obituary from the Buffalo Advertiser gives the most
important incidents of his career He was prostrated on Friday last July 6
with an attack of rheumatism and fever The announcement will be received
with much surprise and regret not only among musical people by whom he was
greatly esteemed but by all who knew him.
Emil Wahle was born in
Niedermarsberg Prussia in April 1844 and was therefore 45 years of
age He came to this country with his parents when a boy The family settled
in Buffalo and have always resided here Emil was a born musician and for
many years was at violinist of fine attainments His career has been entirely
that of a musician and manager In addition to the music store business he
was the leader of Wahle's Orchestra and at different times had composed and
arranged a great deal of music Of late years he had been the leader of the
orchestra at the Academy of Music and had |
|
charge of the music at the other
theatres He also was manager of the Buffalo Orchestra for several seasons
Together with his father he built the Court Street Theatre which is still
owned by the Wahles and leased by HR Jacobs Mr Wahle was 1 musician of much
ability and a man of sterling qualities of head and heart Always pleasant
and affable of the strictest integrity in business matters he commanded the
respect and confidence of all with whom he came in contact His early death
is greatly to be deplored He leaves it wife and three children his father
Joseph and a brother Max and sister Lizettl also survive him |
