Nathan Rodriguez is an undergraduate Voice
Performance major studying at Middle Tennessee State University in
Murfreesboro. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Nathan has called Tennessee
home since 2000, living in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and
attending high school in East TN. A self-taught pianist and composer, he had
originally intended to pursue a degree in Physics; his years in the high
school choral program as well as a summer in the TN Governor's School for
the Arts in 2003 eventually convinced him otherwise.
A languages, science & math enthusiast, freelance web designer/coder,
computer technician and poet, Nathan loves all manner of logical and
creative endeavors, and as such finds the mission of the Portara Ensemble to
be particularly appealing and personally worthwhile. In addition to singing
with the Portara Ensemble, he also serves as the Web Technical Administrator
for the group.
Nathan's other musical activities include serving as a staff singer for
Westminster Presbyterian Church and singing with Music City Baroque, both in
Nashville, TN. He also recently sang the role of Fred Anderson in a
production of "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" at the Renaissance Center in
Dickson, TN, in December of 2011.
