Andreas Pieper was born in 1958 in
Essen, Germany. He studied church music in Westphalia and was cantor from
1983 to 1993 in Bochum. He completed his composition studies with Roland
Ploeger in Lübeck in 1993. Since 1993 he has been a church musician in
Duisburg. His religous and secular music has been performed since 1979. His
Symphony "Ins Helle geht der Drang von dunklen Dingen" was commissioned by
the Rhein-Ruhr-Philharmonie, and his piano music was broadcast by the
Westdeutscher Rundfunk (West German Radio). He won a prize in the
composition competition "Windrose" as part of the Ruhrfestspiele in 2002
with his violin sonata op. 40. All of his compositions may be found in the
city libraries in Essen and Lübeck.
As composer he has been active in every form of musical expression offered
by contemporary composition. His oeuvre comprises about 60 works for various
instruments, string quartet, piano trio, large orchestra, organ, choir, solo
voice, piano, string and wind instruments and numerous other
instrumentations. After 20 years of composition in every style he has
dedicated himself again to free major-minor tonality and met with great
acceptance. Lyric, expressive, playable, beautful sounding musical language
is important to him. Music, which one ideally would like to hear again and
again, but which has its own individuality. He would be happy to hear from
you and introduce his works to you.
