My thanks and appreciation to
Carlos Ribeiro - Benedictus Coral
for sending me this score.

This Ave Maria was written by a Portuguese composer from the Leiria region. His name is Virgílio Horta and he composed this Ave Maria in de sixties for a young soprano there. This woman assisted a a religious ceremony, where she heard us sing and she offered us the score. Sobral da Lagoa is a little village near Óbidos, where the composer was living. He lived there most of is live, and he died there during the 80's.
