Carlo Luigi Asconati, figlio di Carlo e Luigia Frangi, nato il 24 novembre 1880 a Novedrate, provincia di Como, diocesi di MIlano, enrò nell'abbazia di San Benedetto a Seregno (Milano) dove vestì l'abito monastico il 13 novembre 1895 con il nome di don Silvestro Maria. Al termine dell'anno di noviziato emise la professione semplice l' 8 dicembre 1896 e la professione solenne il 17 novembre 1901. Fu ordinato sacerdote nel duomo di Milano il 6 giugno 1903 dal Beato card. Andrea Carlo Ferrari, arcivescovo di Milano. Ha vissuto nei monasteri di S. Maria del Pilastrello a Lendinara, S. Maria Nova a Roma e S. Maria in Campis a Foligno. Nel 1920 veniva destinato, con don Michelangelo Biondi, alla nuova fondazione olivetana in Brasile, a Ribeirao Preto, avviata l'anno precedente dall'abate don Luigi Perego, presso la chiesa di S. Antonio, eretta in abbazia nel 1939.Un altra fondazione è stata avviata a San Paolo nel 1936, l'attuale Mosteiro de N. S. da Esperança. Don Silvestro è rimasto poi sempre in Brasile. E' morto nell'ospedale di San Paolo l'11 marzo 1950.
