Barnard, D'Auvergne, compr. b Isling-ton, London, Apr. 24, 1807.
Though  not of musical parents, early showed  gifts as choir boy in Temple Church;

  trained there by E. J. Hopkins;  
self-taught as pianoforte player,  
gained many appointments as ac-  companist;
began composition at  19,
soon after became widely known  as composer of songs Bid Me to Love  and Plains of Peace;

Under various  pseudonyms has written over 100  songs and 200 pianoforte pieces;
of  dance music under name " Clothilde," most popular perhaps is  waltz Whisper and I shall hear.

Barnard, d'Auvergne Henry 24.apr.1867-18.nov.1929 England, London Islington - London choirboy at Temple Church where he was trained by Edward John Hopkins, self-taught as pianoforte player, not of musical parents, he used various pseudonyms, 19.aug.1907 and 18.may.1925 he visited B F Wood Music Co. in Boston Massachusetts, 1925 residing at 17 Wellesley Mansions London Kensington, 1929 at Pond Cottage Pinner Middlesex ; son of Coleman-Billiard Table proprietor George Jenkins Barnard (India, Jabalpur 4.jun.1825-18.jul.1887 London Lambeth) and Charlotte Empson (Norfolk, Walsham 1829-15.jul.1910 London) ; 20.jan.1890 at St Mary Stoke Newington he married Beatrice Emma Percy
